Retaining walls are usually employed to hold-back (retain) earth on sloping sites. They can be constructed in many different forms from a wide variety of materials. Common construction methods include:
- Timber (coppers log) Retaining walls
- Interlocking block gravity retaining walls
- Reinforced concrete block cantelever retaining walls. (often called 'besser block' walls)
- Terraced walls
Most Councils require that any retaining wall over 1m high (and in some cases less) be designed by a suitably qualified engineer. P.K Civil & Structural Engineering P/L can engineer your retaining wall to suit your needs and satisfy council requirements.
